Serviced apartments are a cost effective alternative to hotels
They offer the flexibility of a kitchen, which is normally equipped with a full range of glasses, utensils, crockery, and equipment including washing machine, iron and dishwasher. internet connection, a TV and a sound system are standard and can be of very high quality.
UK serviced accommodation is usually a one or two bedroom apartment. But if you are planning on moving with family members, do not worry. Larger serviced apartments with 3 or 4 bedrooms are also available, but would obviously be in shorter supply. Studio apartments are also available if your requirements are more modest.
Some serviced accommodation providers offer a laundry service and a weekly clean included the price or sometimes for an additional charge.
Security is usually important to you, and there is sometimes 24-hour reception/porter service. Check before you book if security is a major concern.. The apartments might include a concierge service, and access to business support services, such as faximile machines, computers and couriers, can usually be organised.
Children - Specify if you require equipment for children - for example, a cot, additional beds, or a high chair. Of course, your accommodation would normally be an apartment, so there may be no access to a garden. Check beforehand if this would be an issue.
Parking would normally be provided, but if the apartments do not have facilities, there are often arrangements with local car parks.
Payments - For short stays, you will pay in advance. Negotiate weekly or monthly rates according to length of stay. For stays of a few months (or even years), you would normally be expected to pay a deposit and you would have to sign a contract. If your company is paying, check the procedure regarding authorisation and contract.
Find out the checking in procedure, especially if you expect to arrive outside of normal office hours, or maybe at the weekend. Make similar arrangements when departing.
Most providers are very service driven and geared up to making everything as convenient as possible for the user.
